Question: I am interested to apply for the EB-5 visa through investment of U.S. $ 500,000.00 U.S. I wonder if the IRS charges any taxes for this investment to be made and, if so, what would be the value of this tax?
Answer: No, the Interval Revenue Service (IRS) does not tax your investment of USD 500,000 into an EB-5 project. However, you must comply with your country’s tax laws, for example, income tax and gift tax. The U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) requires evidence to show that you have complied with your country’s tax laws.
Once you become a conditional legal permanent resident (green card holder), you are then subject to taxation on worldwide income. The EB-5 project should provide an annual tax report, which you must report as part of your income tax.
